New Delhi (ISJ) – Several medical scientists and practitioners from India and UK will participate in the 11th Scientific Day by international medical humanitarian organisation, Medicins Sans Frontieres or MSF. The event taking places in London and New Delhi simultaneously will be a ?conference without borders.? This is the first time, New Delhi is being linked to the annual scientific conference, a platform for medical professionals to exchange operational medical research.
?The whole idea is to talk about the results of operational research and to see how that can improve our medical interventions,? explained Martin Sloot, India Director of MSF.
At the New Delhi part of the scientific conference, experts will present papers on multi-drug resistant Tuberculosis, malnutrition, mental health in Kashmir, Kala Azar, etc.
The Scientific Day was started in 2004 and this is the first time, it is taken out of London. The proceedings are live-streamed and watched by people across 100 countries.
MSF has several field projects in South Asian region, and a lot of medical research is happening in this area. The India-part is aimed at building upon MSF?s engagement with the medical community in the region, said Sloot.
The Geneva-based organisation, provides medical relief to victims of war, disasters and disease outbreak since 1971. Currently it is operating in more than 70 countries. MSF was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1999.
