New Delhi (ISJ): A team of Indian techies designed world's first ultra-portable multi-screen computer that could ultimately replace your laptop. The wearable smart glass named Nimo, designed by a startup Nimo Planet Inc, supports six screens that are visible only to the wearer.

The user could interact with the wearable computer through a Bluetooth keyboard, Mouse, or a Smartphone as keyboard and trackpad. It also supports voice inputs. Nimo currently supports more than 95 percent of the productivity apps designed for Android and Web through the app store. People can also use Nimo alongwith their laptops or smartphones to extend apps from those devices to Nimo augmented screens.

The smart glass forgoes the need for a wired connection, while remaining relatively light. It uses Qualcomm's Snapdragon XR1 processor, converting them into a mini-computer on your head.

But if you think, the smart glasses will completely replace your laptop, you are mistaken. Nimo does not promise all. These glasses are not designed to handle intensive tasks like Photoshop, just word processing and project management. You will need to pair your own Bluetooth earbuds to the glasses.

Nimo Planet is headquartered in Milpitas, California and R&D in India. The incredible feat was achieved by a small 10-member team with limited resources.

“The world is experiencing a paradigm shift in the way we work due to pandemic; more companies are moving to remote / hybrid workspaces by giving the employees freedom to work from anywhere. But the existing devices are not designed for better productivity on the go. We’re redefining the work culture with Nimo,” Rohildev. N, Founder & CEO – Nimo Planet Inc told Indian Science Journal.

Rohildev said, the world is moving to a remote or hybrid mode of work and top companies like Deloitte, Mckinsey, Slack, Git Lab, etc. have more than 80 percent employees working on the go or hybrid. They are concerned about the lack of multi-screens that reduce productivity and privacy. Nimo is working with them to address these issues and help their employees to work from anywhere with better productivity and complete private screens.

The Nimo Beta was launched on 22 March 2022. Within 48 hrs the company received 1.7 million USD investment commitments. People can also pre-order Nimo through nimoplanet.com. Nimo, which already has a waiting list of over 2000+ customers, opened Developer and Enterprises programme to get early access to the product.
