?India exports computer software to 90 countries,? says a radio jingle by the federal Indian government as part of its campaign named ?Bharat Nirman? or ?India reconstruction?. Despite these growth projections, India is among the slowest in terms of average internet speed in the world at 114th position with 1.3 Mbps, lowest even amongst Asian countries. South Korea has the fastest internet speed ? 14.2 Mbps, followed by Japan and Hong Kong. Countries like Lithuania and Romania are among the top 10 nations, in terms of highest internet speed in the world. On the other hand according to the data for the first quarter of 2013 released by Akamai Technologies, Inc, India seems a laggard. Akamai Technologies is a leading cloud platform for helping enterprises provide secure, high-performing user experiences on any devise. ?Globally, a total of 117 countries/regions that qualified for inclusion saw average connection speeds increase from the fourth quarter of 2012, ranging from 0.7% in Kuwait (to 2.1 Mbps) to a massive 75% in Guatemala to (3.2 Mps),? says the report. Ironically, India is amongst the 10 countries from where highest ?attack traffic? or hacking originates with 2.6%. China with 34% tops the list, followed by Indonesia 21% and United States 8.3%.
